Sam at 43

So I guess I am now in my last year of ‘early 40s’ having just turned 43. I can’t say it felt any different to turning 40 or 30 for that matter.  Yet, when I look in the mirror I see the wrinkles, the tired eyes, my aged skin and the woman I see is very different to the woman I feel.

I remember my Nan (Grace) telling me, when she was 93, that she still felt young inside.  My mother, now in her mid 60’s tells me the same… and, it is totally true.  On the inside I still feel 18 yet I am living in a middle aged body.

Aging is a strange animal.  It open doors and closes them.  It brings reflection on a life that perhaps you would change if you had the chance…… or maybe not? It makes you realise the chances you missed and the things you should have done as well as the things you should have done differently.

Mostly I am at peace with growing older.  I am sometimes frustrated that my body is not up to things it could do 5, 10 or 20 years ago.  A day mixing cement will certainly bring you back to reality!
